Experience the deep and abiding passion for wine-growing and profound dedication to our legacy – family.
High school sweethearts Pete and Marcia Buffington discovered a late-in-life passion for growing and making wine. They raised their children on the Southwestern Oregon family cattle and sheep ranch and Pete plied the nearby ocean waters as a commercial fisherman. Seeking adventure and on the hunt for an extraordinary view and grapevines to farm, they discovered the lovely and now Abiqua Wind Vineyard on a sundrenched south slope overlooking the Willamette Valley. The rest is history…
When we see ladybugs at the vineyard, we think of family. At Abiqua Wind, our two passions come together: family and wine. Our greatest happiness comes from participating with our children and grandchildren in caring for the land and vines we feel blessed to be stewards over. Their lives and hearts are as intertwined with the vineyard as ours.
Pete’s incredible mother, and matriarch of the family, is honored through our off-dry Gewürztraminer.
Two lovely grandsons, Caleb and Collier, children of our eldest son, often enjoy time at the vineyard and their names reside on the bottles of Pinot Gris and Muscat. Lindy, our daughter-in-law has been a welcome addition to the family, a truly sweet delight whose name can be found on our Pinot Noir Rosé.
Tiffany, namesake of the dessert Gewürztraminer “Sweet Tiffany” is our only daughter and mother of two lovely children, Isaac and Chloe, who adorn the bottles of our Pinot Noir and Müller Thurgau.
Our youngest son, Aaron, immerses himself in the vineyard, and contributes to every aspect from vine to bottle. His daughter, Sophia Grace is the namesake for our deliciously sweet pink Muscat. (No Longer in Stock)
